Pilates is a form of Yoga. It is also considered a mind and body exercise,
which is designed to benefit both your physical fitness and mental
stability. Pilates is also considered a natural therapy for certain ailments
and was developed in the early 1900's by a man named Joseph Pilates.

Joseph Pilates developed Pilates following a series of medical problem,
as he felt that there was a need for a more gentle exercise for people in
his position. Now, Pilates is used as a form of rehabilitation. Although
Pilates has some similar techniques to yoga, its focus is based more in
strengthening the body, as opposed to Yoga, which is more focused on
reaching a certain state of mind.

Overall, Pilates has over 500 techniques that have been carefully
designed to the entire body. If practiced regularly, Pilates can build up
your bodies overall strength and flexibility. Although Pilates can help turn
fat into toned muscle, it is recommended that you combine Pilates with
another more active exercise if your goal is to also loose weight.
