Osteopathy
Osteopathy falls under the classification of Natural Therapy. Osteopathy
is an alternative medical practice that aims to look at the whole person
and not just one particular area. Like a general medical practitioner,
Osteopathy practitioners must study for six years in order to cover all
that is required for them to practice their chosen career path.
Like general medical practitioners, Osteopathy students study the same
basic science principals and the same basic clinical medicine principles.
However, unlike general medical practitioners, Osteopathy practitioners
receive additional training in osteopathic manipulative technique.
Also, like general medical practitioners, Osteopathy practitioners can
prescribe medicines, forms of treatments and recommend referrals. The
main difference between general medical practitioners and Osteopathy
practitioners is that Osteopathy practitioners can perform skeletal and
muscle manipulation and offer nutritional advice.Osteopathy has
been described as a 'hands on' practice that is designed to identify
blockages in a persons system and through a series of manipulative
techniques aims to release those blockages in order to improve health.
The goal of Osteopathy practice is to aid the body in healing its self
through natural means.
