Swimming



Swimming is both a recreational exercise and a competitive Sport.
Swimming has many benefits, including building up the body's muscles,
improving cardiovascular abilities and overall increased health. Swimming
has long been hailed as an exercise that is gentle on the body's joints, as
your body is supported, as you glide through the water.

There are different types of swimming styles, such as back stoke,
butterfly and freestyle. Usually, a competitive swimmer will train in one of
these styles in order to master that area. There are also a number of
team sports that involve swimming, such as Water Hockey and Water
Volleyball. Swimming is also included in Triathlons and military training.

Most educational institutions teach children to swim at an early age
through Government swimming programs. However, there are still a large
number of people who cannot swim. If you are interested in swimming as
a recreational exercise, swimming pools can be found in most local
areas, or within driving distance.
