Taekwondo

Taekwondo is a Martial Art that has been designed to teach students
self-discipline and control. It can also be used as a form of self-defense.
Students of Taekwondo can begin from the age of 4 years and up.
Taekwondo can also help build self-confidence and a healthy disposition.

Although a physical sport, Taekwondo focuses a lot of energy on the
discipline of the mind. Essentially, Taekwondo means 'A way of life',
which reiterates its main focus. A General named General Choi, who
initially combined the art of Karate and the art of Taek Kyon, first
established Taekwondo in Korea.

Taekwondo has an initial 10 steps, known as 'Gups' and six colored
belts. The six colored belts are white, gold, green, blue, red and black.
Once a student reaches the black belt, they must then complete 9 further
steps, known as 'Dans'.

Taekwondo encourages students to become aware of their strengths
and weaknesses and to work towards improving their weaknesses and
mastering their strengths.
